sunday kind of love: for the hostess

There is something special about a hostess.

This person genuinely loves to entertain family and friends and cares deeply about creating memories in real time. The hostess values the small details that make a gathering feel thoughtful and familial. The amount of effort that goes into creating the perfect menu, arranging the flowers, and handwriting each place card can be extraordinary, but equally rewarding to her, as one of her favorite things in life is gathering with those she loves.

This week’s Sunday Kind of Love is a love letter to all of my fellow hosts and hostesses. You are the ones creating the beautiful and memorable settings your children, family, and friends will cherish for years to come. You are creating the traditions, memories, and gathering places that become part of a family’s story.

That being said, I absolutely love hosting parties, family gatherings, and holiday dinners around my dining table. It is one of the places in my home where I feel I can be creative in a relatively small space. In my opinion, tablescapes feel like a temporary creative outlet—an opportunity to play with flowers, linens, menus, and place settings without making a permanent change to my home.

Of course, part of the beauty is that it doesn’t last forever. The flowers eventually wilt, and the table is cleared, but I love the memories created around that table. That, to me, is what makes it so special.

Here is what I am loving for summer—the freshness and nostalgic charm of these pieces paired with traditional silver plate, lime hydrangeas, and classic beige checkerboard. Together, they create a timeless combination that feels perfectly suited for warm-weather dinners and summer evenings around the table.

I’ve also included below some of my favorite tablescapes I have created.

  1. Hogwarts themed dinner
  2. Christmas ribbon from my light fixture
  3. King’s Day
